Underage drinking is an extremely common social phenomenon in Michigan. The vast majority of our teenagers are experimenting with alcohol at high school parties, on college campuses, and on the hill at Pine Knob Music Theater. During this period of experimentation many of them will make poor, possibly alcohol induced, decisions inviting their first contact with law enforcement and the criminal justice system.
Unfortunately, the old adage of “kids being kids,” no longer applies and the prosecutor’s office will commence action under the assumption that all children have a drinking problem.
