Adult or Child Guardianship

Guardianships allow an interested party to assume decision-making authority over another with regard to their personal well-being, where that individual lacks the understanding to make those decisions for themselves due to a physical ailment or mental incapacity. Sometimes these aliments or incapacities are expected and a result of aging such as in cases of elderly individuals experiencing dementia, and occasionally these ailments or incapacities are brought about suddenly such as in cases of chronic intoxication, drug abuse or accidents.

Guardianships ensure the welfare of the individual and allow another to make certain that their needs are met.
